Homes designed
to evolve
with you

We work with homeowners and the designers, architects, and builders they trust, embedding adaptability into the home without compromising the design.

Plan capability
before walls go up

Most homes weren't designed to age with their owners. The fixes are usually possible, but they're cheaper, less disruptive, and better looking when planned in advance.

When Facility helps

Recognise yourself here?

Open wall framing, measurement in progress

When you're already planning a renovation

When the walls are already coming down, many adaptations are simply choices that won't cost extra. Build in capability at the moment you're already building. Bring us in before the contractor's quote is final.

Multigenerational living asks more of a home than most are designed for. We help you reshape what you already have so everyone has what they need.

Healthy, settled, planning to be in this home for the next thirty years. The smartest time to think about next steps is when nothing is forcing you to

The founder

Why Facility exists

“Why shouldn’t the things needed to support you through life be objects of beauty you enjoy?”

That’s my mother, Catharine. After her knee replacement (alongside my father-in-law’s dementia and my own spinal surgery in my thirties), I watched people I love navigate homes that were slowly working against them. The medical-supply aesthetic that came in with recovery felt like it was asking them to trade their identity for their safety.

Two decades alongside the world’s best industrial and interior designers, including a formative stretch at Herman Miller, taught me what design can do when it’s expanding capability instead of obscuring it. Facility is what happens when that experience meets a more personal need.

What we examine

Five dimensions read
against how you live

A Capability Check reads a home across five capability dimensions. Each one shapes how independently you move through your home today and how ready it is to adapt as life changes.

Mobility

Circulation, transfer space, support infrastructure

Strength

Hardware, fixtures, exertion demands

Sensory

Lighting, contrast, glare, acoustic clarity, alert redundancy

Cognitive

Spatial logic, control legibility, wayfinding cues

Resilience

Detection, monitoring, power, water, air, climate continuity
